#HarlemSummerNights: Gaudir X HH Bespoke

When two Harlem businesses come together, you can expect a good time! Gaudir and HH Bespoke have partnered to create a #HarlemSummerNights, a social social featuring delicious elevated gin cocktails and mouth watering tapas.

Gaudir is a modern tapas restaurant recently opened in East Harlem by Tasting NYC, a bespoke catering and events company created by Alexandra Morris (who is also part owner East Harlem’s Mountain Bird).

HH Bespoke is the spirit extension of Harlem Haberdashery, a clothing store opened by the owners of 5001 Flavors. 5001 flavors is a custom clothing line you’ve probably seen some of your faves dripped in like DJ Khaled, the late great Nipsey Hussle, Nas, and Chris Paul just to name a few.

I was able to try Gaudir’s HH Bespoke cocktails creations as well as some tapas. HH Bespoke currently has 3 spirits in their line (vodka, gin and rum) which can all be found at Gaudir but the gin is the featured spirit for the summer.

The first cocktail I tried was “El Remedio” made with HH Bespoke Gin (of course) with lemon and honey, something like a “Bee’s Knees”. This drink was definitely my favorite of the two. The lemon’s tartness is balanced well by the honey and the gin isn’t overpowered by either one of those ingredients.

The second cocktail I tried was “Sandia” which paired the gin with Aperol, watermelon juice, lemon juice, and club soda. It was refreshing and fruity. The perfect kind of drink to have on a warm summer night.

I enjoyed the tapas as well. The star of the night for me was the Patatas Brava. Seriously, who knew potatoes could be so good?! The garlic aioli’s thick creamy texture was a great complement to the crispy seasoned potatoes and the salsa brava at the base of the plate.

Also on the menu were Gambas al Ajillo, one of my favorite Spanish tapas dishes, and Croquetas Cremosas.

Gaudir X HH Bespoke #HarlemSummerNights Social Hour will be happening all summer long on Tues, Weds, & Thurs evenings from 6-7pm. When you purchase a HH Bespoke gin cocktail during that time frame, you will receive a free tapas tasting! Ya’ll know I love me a deal. I Will certainly be back to indulge again this summer.

#SummerBrunching: Cove Lounge

If you know me then you know I love a good brunch, and that’s exactly what I had at Cove Lounge. Located in Harlem between 126th & 127th streets, Cove Lounge is bi-level dining and nightlife lounge. I must admit, I’ve never really considered Cove Lounge “brunch spot” so I was really surprised by how delicious the food was.  

I got to taste an array of news & classic brunch items prepared by their head chef Harold Brenton.

CRAB CAKE BENEDICT

I could seriously eat those Crab Cake Benedict for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Yea, it’s that good! It’s one of their new brunch items and certainly a great addition to the menu. The Hollandaise sauce had some heat to it which I really enjoyed.

Goes great with: Mimosas!! *You can enjoy unlimited mimosas for a 1.5 hours for $20 .

COVE VEGAN BURGER

This was my first experience trying an “Impossible Burger” and boy, I really thought I was eating a regular burger. There I was taking the smallest of bites because I thought the patty was beef (I rarely eat beef these days) and Chef Harold comes in to tell us it’s their new vegan burger. I wasn’t the only person surprised in the room, many of us agreed this was probably the best vegan burger we’ve had. The pretzel bun and house-made sauce were great additions to this burger.

Goes great with: Cove Salad.

JERK WINGS

The jerk wings surprised me. Lately, it seems like a trend to incorporate Caribbean, African and other ethnic foods/spices into menus and restaurants where they have no place. This certainly wasn’t the case with Cove Lounge’s jerk wings. The char on them was perfect, the glaze was savory yet brought that heat I’m looking for when eating jerk chicken. You can tell they really understand Caribbean flavors and I truly appreciated that.
